CCTV performs its duty of security surveillance every time and everywhere regardless of the change of weather and season. How a camera conquers the possible environmental temperature difference occurring in different installation site? LonTrend proposed a wide range of camera enclosures from normal usages to harsh environment applications.

Before choosing a suitable camera enclosure, it is necessary to have a rough idea about the ambient temperature of the installation site and the operating temperature for your camera. Ambient temperature refers to the overall temperature of the outdoor air which surrounds us and it influences the functionality of cameras. Operating temperature refers to the temperature at which cameras operate effectively within a minimum and a maximum temperature range. If cameras work in the temperature out of this range, their functions may fail. The general operating temperature for LonTrend enclosures is between -40 °C to 60 °C which can cover most of the requirement.

Basically, the moderate operating temperature for a camera is 15 °C to 35 °C. To ensure cameras work well under this condition, LonTrend provides heater and blower as optional accessories. Generally, the heater powers on at 15 °C ± 3 °C to heat up; blower will trigger at 35 °C ± 3 °C to dissipate the heat in order to regulating temperature inside LonTrend enclosures automatically for the camera usage.

Examples of LonTrend solutions for extremely high/low ambient temperature

Solution for low ambient temperature

High altitude and latitude areas feature low ambient temperature and huge temperature difference. LonTrend LTEV10 with triple heating design system is dedicated to support devices in extreme cold environment, and it can withstand the ambient operating temperature from -70 °C to 50 °C. Furthermore, this model is equipped with defogging heater which prevents the front viewing glass from being blocked by vapor condensation and helps the camera to capture image clearly.

Solution for high ambient temperature

When it comes to the ambient temperature more than 60 °C, you can consider using a water-cooling camera enclosure such as LTES08 and LTEX03.

What is the highest affordable ambient operating temperature that this kind of enclosure can bear? The structure of the camera enclosure is not the only factor which can decide it; the inlet water temperature, the water flow rate and the pressure of water related to the pump system also affect the performance of the whole water-cooling solution.

However, it is not an easy task to determine the real ambient temperature of their installation sites. For example, in the furnace, oven and foundry, the highest temperature of the heat source is usually more than 1000 °C. We are usually frightened by such high temperature but actually 1000 °C is not the correct index about the ambient temperature for choosing a camera enclosure. In fact, the real ambient temperature of the camera installation is normally much lower and is influenced by many other factors, such as the distance between the heat source and the camera as well as the thickness of the furnace wall, etc.
