LonTrend

LonTrend started our die-casting and explosion proof business since 1985. With more than 30-year-experience in research, development and production of camera enclosures for a multitude of projects, we have established a complete product range mainly comprised of three materials, plastic, aluminum, and stainless steel. Each material possesses its own strength and optimal application. LonTrend targets their existing nature and launches a series of products for the choice of customers. The highest specification is not equivalent to the best solution. Choosing materials based on project requirement and installation environment brings the maximum benefit to users. With a view to helping clients to find the best solution, LonTrend would like to draw your attention to the picture below and make a brief introduction of the three materials and our corresponding solutions.

Plastic - Polycarbonate

There are three points which let polycarbonate stand out from other materials and be widely adopted in our surroundings: low-cost, moderate hardness, and light weight. Polycarbonate is considered as the most cost effective material to build camera enclosures and lead to its value of mass production items. With the modern technology, polycarbonate construction can meet up to IP66 protection level giving basic protection to camera modules, and capable to most of the environmentally-safe or entry-level solutions, such as commercial, residential, and indoor applications. It is worthy to notice that plastic can withstand acid corrosion. This feature brings benefit to normal applications.

Aluminum - Extruded aluminum and die-casting aluminum

As a material which can be recycled easily, aluminum has been largely promoted and used in different industry, including aero, computer, of course camera. Aluminum is renowned for its low density and its ability to resist corrosion through the phenomenon of passivation. Thanks to its high plasticity feature, manufacturers have freedom to make the housing design even intricate configurations. With profound knowledge in aluminum production, LonTrend launches a rich series of aluminum products under two manufacturing process technology: extrude and die-casting.

When it comes to extruded aluminum enclosure, thanks to the extensibility of aluminum and the processing technology, we may have access to a variety of housing dimension and form. Concerning certain special applications where large enclosures are necessary, extruded housing can provide the best solution, because it would be the most cost-effective way to have a larger size housing in comparison to die-casting aluminum or stainless steel production methods, and the net weight is much lighter for a whole set, which is definitely convenient for installation; especially for some remote monitoring projects where cameras are frequently equipped with long lens.

The production of die-casting enclosure makes use of molten metal and injects it into the die at high pressure, which creates its moderate but strong construction. Die-casting aluminum also features its good performance in heat dissipation measures and in anti-corrosion. Furthermore, in our product range, most of the models made of this material are rated at IP68 superior to IP66 weatherproof level, as a consequence, they have been specified in marine, industrial, and outdoors, where external factors are rather challenging. LonTrend die-casting aluminum products remain the inherent color of aluminum. The elegant white color and attractive appearance make it noticeable in many significant projects.

Stainless steel - AISI 304 and AISI 316L

Regarding stainless steel product range, AISI 304 and AISI 316L are the two most ubiquitous materials for enclosure production. Stainless steel is characterized by its hardness, corrosion resistance, and good performance in high temperature. Firstly, the strong stainless steel enclosure can endure the damage from serious scratch and sharp blow; therefore, a lot of explosion proof products are also made from this material to confront the hazardous elements, for instance, debris in explosive environment and bullet attack in military application. Secondly, the composition and proportion of Cr (Chromium) and Ni (Nickel) in these two stainless steels make them have different level of acid resistance. The latter is better than the former. As a result, AISI 316L is usually proposed to severe onboard application. Thirdly, with the high melting point around 1,400 °C, stainless steel is also chosen for water-cooling and air-cooling solutions to overcome 250 °C high ambient temperature.

For every application, LonTrend has solutions. Welcome to consult with your LonTrend specialist to find the most ideal products for your projects.
